In fact, it was these views of Fuji (along with the hotel’s private onsen!) that compelled me to book a stay here.
There’s just something so surreal about soaking in the sights from your very own private bath.
Between the views, comfort, and relaxing atmosphere, it’s safe to say that my stay here was nothing short of magical!

Where is La Vista Fuji Kawaguchiko?
La Vista Fuji Kawaguchiko is located in the resort town of Fujikawaguchiko, which lies in the heart of the Fuji Five Lakes Region in Yamanashi Prefecture.
Perched on the hilltops overlooking Lake Kawaguchi, the hotel offers an elevated, peaceful setting with great views not just of Fuji-san, but of the larger town as well.
Despite its more secluded location, the hotel is situated quite close to a number of local attractions – including Oishi Park and Chureito Pagoda.
How to Get to La Vista Fuji Kawaguchiko
Getting to La Vista Fuji Kawaguchiko is actually much easier than you might think! That’s because the hotel lies just a short drive from the town’s main transit hub, Kawaguchiko Station.
This station is accessible from Tokyo via the Fuji Excursion limited express train and by highway bus.
You can also get here from Osaka or Kyoto, by taking the Shinkansen to Mishima Station, and then transferring to a local bus.
Once you arrive at Kawaguchiko Station, you can either hail a taxi or hop aboard the hotel’s complimentary shuttle bus.
The shuttle, which runs throughout the day, is a great option – just be sure to contact the hotel in advance to make a seat reservation.
And, last but certainly not least, you can always drive to the hotel.
There are a number of car rental companies near the train station that offer local rentals. And the hotel has free parking, which is always a bonus!
In fact, I recommend renting a car if you have the ability to do so. It makes exploring Mt Fuji much easier and provides you with the opportunity to travel at your own pace!
Pro Tip: If you plan to rent a car, be sure to check the Japanese license requirements specific to your home country. For those traveling from the United States, Canada, Australia, Singapore, and most European countries, an International Driver’s Permit is typically required.
The Guest Rooms at La Vista Fuji Kawaguchiko
I found the guest rooms at La Vista to be surprisingly spacious and comfortable.
While the decor is admittedly a bit dated, everything is well-kept and thoughtfully maintained, which makes the room feel very welcoming.
We, personally, booked a double room with Fuji views and absolutely loved it.
Our room was quite large (especially by Japanese standards) and included a separate lounge area with a couch, fireplace, TV, sink, and a small refrigerator.
In addition to this, there was a designated little entryway, a separate bathroom, and of course, the star of the show – a balcony facing Fuji-san with its own private bath.
The views from here were absolutely phenomenal, and well worth every penny we spent.
Pro Tip: To ensure you get a view of Mount Fuji, be sure to book a room facing the mountain!
The Amenities at La Vista Fuji Kawaguchiko
Beyond its comfortable guest rooms, La Vista Fuji Kawaguchiko also offers a variety of on-site amenities.
The main highlight, of course, is the hotel’s public onsen, which features a mix of indoor and outdoor hot springs with views of Mount Fuji.
While the main public baths here are separated by gender, there are also four private baths – perfect for families or guests who don’t have a a bath in their own room.
In addition to this, the hotel is home to a full-service spa, a gift shop, and a lounge, where you’ll find complimentary coffee and, in the afternoons, free wine.
Pro Tip: Like most onsens in Japan, the one at La Vista prohibits the use of clothing (even bathing suits aren’t allowed). So, if you feel uncomfortable soaking around strangers, I recommend booking a private bath instead!
The Food at La Vista Fuji Kawaguchiko
Food is another highlight at La Vista, thanks to Restaurant Petit Poche, a delicious establishment that offers a mix of Japanese and Western cuisine.
In the mornings, they serve an all-you-can-eat buffet breakfast that includes a variety of savory and sweet goodies.
And for dinner, there’s a seasonal eight-course meal that you can indulge in.
Finally, as an added bonus, the restaurant also offers a complimentary ramen bar every night from 10:30 – 11:00 pm.
Pro Tip: If you plan to eat at the hotel, it’s best to notify them in advance. Seating at the restaurant is limited and can book up quickly, especially for dinner.
The Service at La Vista Fuji Kawaguchiko
I have nothing but positive things to say about the service at La Vista Fuji Kawaguchiko.
Everyone that I encountered during my stay here was very friendly, attentive, and quick to respond.
Before I even arrived, I emailed the hotel with a few questions, and they replied right away.
What’s more, they have English-speaking staff on hand, which is incredibly helpful for those of us who don’t speak Japanese!
The Views at La Vista Fuji Kawaguchiko
As I’ve already stated many times, the views at La Vista Fuji Kawaguchiko are absolutely phenomenal!
I mean, there really is nothing else like it – it’s pretty much impossible to find full, unobstructed, private views of Mount Fuji anywhere else.
And, the best part is, the sights aren’t confined to one spot.
You can see Mount Fuji from your room, the lobby, the restaurant, the onsen, and even the parking lot!
And many times, you’ll have these spaces all to yourself, which, as they say, is the cherry on top.
That said, I do feel it’s important to mention the weather, which can have a big influence on visibility.
Even though La Vista is in a prime location, views here can still become obstructed by clouds and fog.
So, just be sure to keep your expectations in check and practice some patience.
The views will inevitably come and go – but your chances of seeing Fuji-san in all her glory are much higher when you stay at La Vista!
Pro Tip: Statistically speaking, the best months to view Mount Fuji are December and January. However, I visited La Vista in June and had incredible visibility. It really all just comes down to timing and luck!
